Stillwell

Chief Financial Officer 

Robert Stillwell, has served in a number of Senior Healthcare Financial and Executive roles over the previous 40 years across public, not-for-profit, and private equity organizations. Among his major career accomplishments are: as a Founder of Renal Care Group, Inc. (“RCG”) assisted in the leadership of its successful IPO, multiple debt offerings with various companies raising $1.5 billion, led M & A activities of transactions valued at $2.0 billion, and headed up management initiatives for various companies in the area of revenue cycle and cost containment valued at $35 million. 
 

Stillwell, a Certified Public Accountant, began his public accounting career in 1975 at Peat Marwick, Mitchell & Company (now KPMG) as an auditor and reimbursement specialist working exclusively in the healthcare industry, later achieving partnership level with a large regional public accounting firm, O. H. Putman & Company, specializing in the healthcare industry. In 1984, he joined the Baptist Medical Centers ($2.0 billion in revenues) as Vice President, Finance. In addition to his role as Chief Financial Officer over the medical centers, he served as the system’s chief administrative officer to Alabama Dialysis Services, a large hospital/nephrology dialysis joint venture. 
 

Stillwell relocated to Nashville in 1995 and joined Renal Care Group, Inc. ($1.8 billion in revenues) as a Founder and its Senior Vice President, Finance. He assisted in the leadership of its successful IPO. RCG operated with remarkable growth for a period of 10 years and was subsequently sold to Fresenius Medical Care NA, Inc. for a record $4.5 billion in 2006. As a result of the transaction, he joined Fresenius Medical Care ($11.0 billion in revenues), as its Senior Vice President, Operational Finance in Waltham, Massachusetts. In 2008, he accepted the position of Chief Financial Officer at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (“VUMC”) for the Metropolitan Nashville Hospital Authority. Stillwell served since 2012 as Interim Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer for Cardiovascular Care Group, Inc. (“CCG”) (Portfolio Company/MedCare Funds). CCG owns and operates heart hospitals and physician practices. Most recently, Stillwell co-founded and served as Chief Financial Officer of Innovative Renal Care (“IRC”) raising $200 million in equity through a private firm and $500 million in debt facilities. As its first and most significant transaction to date, IRC entered into an agreement in 2020 to acquire American Renal Associates (“ARA”), a publicly traded dialysis company consisting of 240 centers in 27 states, with $750 million in revenues. The acquisition was completed in January, 2021. Most recently, Stillwell in addition to serving as Chief Financial Officer of Onnix Global Inc. serves as a Managing Member and Chief Financial Officer of Preferred Medical Properties, LLC, a healthcare real estate acquisition and leasing company. 
 

Stillwell, holds a Bachelor Degree in Accounting and Master’s Degree in Business Administration (“MBA”) (with honors) from the University of Alabama. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1977 and in 1978 was admitted to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In 2007, he successfully completed the Executive Development Program at the INSEAD Graduate School of Business, Fontainebleau, France. He served as a Healthcare Executive Adjunct Professor for the Master’s Program in Healthcare Administration, Owen Graduate School of Management, Vanderbilt University during his tenure there. He is a former trustee for the National Kidney Foundation of Middle Tennessee and the Tennessee Hospital Association Solutions Group.
